Fireworks at Concerts in the Garden

Every Concerts in the Garden performance ends with a fireworks show.

While the word, ‘symphony,’ is synonymous with ‘classical’ in most people’s minds, the symphony centers in Dallas and Fort Worth bring us live performances in a variety of genres. This weekend makes a perfect example:

Whoopi Goldberg Comes to Dallas

Whether you know her best from The View, as Guinan on Star Trek, or from any of her many movies (which run the gamut from drama to comedies) Whoopi Goldberg has loaned her talents to many different projects. Whatever the case may be, the incomparable Ms. Goldberg will be whooping it up for a night of comedy in Dallas on June 19th, at the Meyerson Symphony Center.

Concerts in the Garden

If you would rather spend the evening outside, come to the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens for this weekend’s Concerts in the Garden. These shows are a wonderful way to enjoy live music outdoors while having a picnic in a beautiful setting.

June 19th is all about Elvis, when Kraig Parker performs his tribute to the King of rock and roll in a show called Jailhouse Rock. Then, on June 20th, Concerts in the Garden hosts a bigband extravaganza entitled Music of Glenn Miller and Friends. Feel free to dance on the lawn as conductor Curtis Wilson takes you for a musical ride through the jazz era.
