Celebrating World Music Day with Grammy Award Winners

Rattle & Hum Music Society presents The Handshake Music Festival. The music festival promises to features some of the best musicians India has produced. Some of the artists being featured are: Grammy Award Winner Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Grammy Nominee Lama Tashi, Medusa, Soulmate, Cultural Vibrants, and OFF. The festival will be far from off and should be a super rocking event. The World Music Day is sure to be a blast with this music festival in New Delhi. Here’s a little about the more accomplished artists.

Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt

Vishwa Mohan has mesmerized the world with his pristine pure, delicate yet fiery music. This Indian Classical Music genius has performed in extensively in many countries, including USA, Russia, Canada, the Great Britain, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Scotland, Switzerland, Denmark, and India!

Cultural Vibrantis

This group is from the North Eastern state of Nagaland. The Cultural Vibrants have been performing traditional Naga music for about a decade. The all-girl group have songs that speak of love, harvest, war, loneliness and more.

Soulmate

This is another group from a North Eastern state. They are from Shillong. There music has roots in Blues, Soul, Rock ‘n Roll, Funk, and R&B. Their fusion is absolutely amazing. The group played their first concert in February 2003. Since then the band has performed many music festivals all over the Northeast as well as in different parts of India. They have also performed at the International Jazzmandu Festival in Kathmandu in 2004 and 2005.

Where: Habitat World, India Habitat Centre ( IHC ), Lodhi Road, New Delhi

When: 7:00 pm on 21st June

How Much: Passes available at the IHC reception desk. There aren’t many so if you want to attend, make sure you get them soon.

Note: If you are driving park, at gate No. 1 and 3 ( Cars ). Gate No. 2 is for Bikes & Bicycles.
