Off the Beaten Path Bar in Dublin

Many first-time visitors to Dublin don’t make it much further than Temple Bar when it comes to a night out. This is a shame though, because there are many bars across the city where visitors will be more likely to rub elbows with Dubliners and experience more authentic local atmosphere. One of the best places I’ve found is a bar right on the River Liffey, Sin É

Translated from the Irish language as ‘That’s It’ Sin É (pronounced ‘shin-aye’) is a welcome break from the typical Dublin pub. While every visitor should definitely indulge in the pub culture and decide for themselves who pours the best pint of Guinness in town, sometimes you also might want a bar. Somewhere a little more dimly lit, with more space to sit, and with more atmosphere. To get away from the bustle of Temple Bar, head across the River Liffey to the north side of the Quays to Sin É.

This is the kind of place where all sorts of Dubliners will mix and mingle. While it’s known for music, both live performances and DJs, it is also a place where you will see people from all walks of life: musicians, artists, businessmen, and students. Candlelight provides great atmosphere for having a drink with friends. If you’re visiting Dublin for the first time, the helpful staff at this bar can usually point you in the direction of another party when the bar closes.

Whether you stop in during the middle of the day for a drink and a bite or spend your night at Sin É, this spot is definitely one to add to your itinerary. Local theater, art, and music are also advertised at this bar – so it’s a great place to find out what is up and coming during your trip.
