The World’s Most Peaceful Country is..
..New Zealand, according to the 2010 Global Peace Index which considers numerous indicators from the crime rate to defense spending, conflicts with neighbouring states and respect for human rights. Iceland and Japan were among the other countries following New Zealand that ranked most peaceful.
I was pleasantly surprised upon learning about this in the news. It makes me feel proud, yet again, to be 
living here and relieved to be raising my only daughter in this blessed country.
Many Kiwis may disagree because their life experiences may be far from peaceful. I am guessing New Zealand’s stand on nuclear weapons and the Iraqi war may have attributed to its good reputation. Or perhaps other countries assume we are living a calm and undisturbed lifestyle because we’re so isolated in our part of the world.
