Viewing the Modern at the Getty
Take a trip to Brentwood for one of LA’s most famous modern art museums, the Getty Center. To get to the museum, walk or take one of two sleek and white trams up the windy hill. Don’t forget to look out the window and marvel at the busy city life of LA. A few minutes more is all it takes to get the museum, which is made up of architecturally modern buildings. People usually just like to have picnics with their family or lounge around on the grass next to these buildings.
Also scattered throughout the museum are modern outdoor sculptures of the Fran and Ray Stark Sculpture Terrace. These abstract pieces mimic the human form, including this bronze sculpture called “Figure for Landscape” by Barbara Hepworth.

Pass these sculptures, make your way to the museum’s many balconies. You will practically have a 360 degree view of the city. These views are great for pictures.
A little further down is the central garden. To get to the garden, go down another windy road pass bright-colored flowers and trees.
Before you exit, be sure to check out the current exhibition of famous Leonardo da Vinci, showing through June 20, 2010. You’ll see his famous sketches and learn also some of his scientific theories. The Getty Museum’s exhibitions demonstrate that even though it’s many modern features, there is still a great appreciation for history.
Price: Admission is Free. However, parking is $15 per car and free after 5pm.
Location: Getty Center, 1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles (map)

I love the Getty! I’ve been to the old and the new location. Both are fantastic.
