The Entertainment Capital’s Much Anticipated Film Festival
Another long-awaited arts festival is coming to the entertainment capital of the world, the LA Times’ 16th annual LA Film Festival. In recent years, the LA Film Festival has been held in Westwood, however, this year the festival will be held in downtown to celebrate the city’s roots and the location’s arts community. Even with this move, the LA Film Festival will not lose any of its variety with over 200 features, shorts, and music videos from over 30 countries. With these presentations, the LA Film Festival gives the public special access to the filmmakers and emerging talent.
The LA Film Festival’s events will take place in 4 main venues:
- Regal Cinemas LA Live Stadium 14 This will be the main venue for most of the festival’s events, especially for premieres, screenings, foreign films, and shorts from all over the world. A Focus Feature held in the stadium is “The Kids Are All Right” about two artificially conceived teenagers raised by two mothers and seeking their birth father. However, when they find the donor, they must re-evaluate their lives. The Regal Cinemas is also the location of the festival’s Narrative and Documentary Competitions. Location: 1000 West Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles (map)

Also at the Grammy Museum, dedicated film enthusiasts can take part in the 2-day “Seize the Power: A Marketing and (DIY)stribution Symposium”(June 19-20) to learn how to have a lucrative career in the field.
