Light Up Your Life: Luminato Festival of Arts
In its fourth year, Luminato is a celebration of the arts. For 10 days Toronto becomes illuminated through theater, dance, art, music, film, literature and design – and everyone is invited.
There are over 50 free events, and over 20 ticketed admission events. These include live performances, readings, concerts, commissioned art installations and promotions. that make for an increased energy and vibrancy in the city.
With three main curatorial themes to this year’s festival – the celebration of the “diva”, East/West duality and the issue of human rights – diversity is explored and embraced.
Some highlights of the festival include:
- John Malkovich starring in “The Infernal Comedy – Confessions of a Serial Killer”
- Prima Donna, a debut opera composed by Rufus Wainright
- A performance by the Vienna Academy Orchestra
- Lunchtime Conversations with Artists at the Roots Store on Bloor Street
- Mark Fast‘s installation in Brookfield Place – The Ascension of Beauty
I definitely plan on letting Luminato shed some light on me next week!
