Calling All Dogs: Woofstock, June 12-13
Dog owners and lovers are a breed unto themselves. I have seen people pushing their dogs in specially designed strollers, feeding them filet mignon, dressing them in custom designed clothing and treating them better than most humans. However, none of this will seem remotely unusual for the estimated 300,000 dog lovers that will be attending Woofstock, June 12 – 13.
In it’s 8th year, Woofstock is the largest outdoor festival for dogs in North America. Held in the historic St. Lawrence Market Neighborhood, it stretches for countless city blocks that will be closed off for the event. There will be over 250 vendors offering all the latest must haves for our four legged friends. There is a jam packed schedule of events to watch – such as the Purina Prop Plan Dog Stars and some to participate in – such as pageants, dog trick contests and fashion shows/costume contests. And to top it off there is a VIP (Very Important Pooch) lounge for dogs and their owners to lap in luxury. All you need to do is fill out a form in advance – admission is free!
On Sunday June 6th, to kick off Woofstock there is a Doggelganger High Tea Event being hosted at the King Edward Hotel. Find you pooch’s inner “doggelganger” – is it Elvis? Lady Gaga? Bob Marley? 60 dogs will be selected to attend the tea – all you need to do is enter.
So take time to “paws” and appreciate our favorite four legged friends at an event sure to be worthy of a woof woof and a big paw up!
