Groceries Delivered to Your Disney Door

In a recent post on the Disney Parks Blog a benefit for Disney Vacation Club members allows for groceries to be ordered on-line and delivered to Vacation Club properties.  For the price of the items, plus a $5.00 delivery fee, DVC members can save money on their dining costs while taking advantage of the kitchen facilities in their villas.

What about those of us that aren’t members of the Club, can groceries be delivered to our door?

Garden Grocer is an online grocery delivery service providing supplies to Florida residents and guests to Walt Disney World Resort (map) hotels and properties throughout Orange and Osceola Counties.  Orders are placed at least 36 hours ahead.  A two hour delivery window is set for a delivery fee of $12.00, or free delivery on orders of $200.

A quick check of listed grocery items showed that while prices seem to be slightly higher than my neighborhood grocer, they are much cheaper than purchasing from the resort stores or eating every meal at a restaurant.

Quick Silver Tours and Transportation ,while not a grocery deliver service, is in the people deliver service.  Private cars and coaches transport people to and from the airport.  One of the best features offered by Quick Silver is a complimentary 30 minute stop at grocery store close to Walt Disney World.

Our family has used Quick Silver Transportation and was very pleased not only with the clean autos and professional staff, but the grocery stop was an excellent way to save money.  Even though we were staying in a standard room without access to cooking facilities or even a refrigerator, purchasing some healthy snacks, juice boxes, water and fruit really kept expenses down.

By making a ”grocery list” ahead of time, I was able to zip in the store, pick up our items and be back to our car well within the 30 minutes.  I can only dream that there would be a car waiting for me at the curb each time I grocery shopped!

HINT:  One item that was not on my list that I wish I had included was a bottle of wine or other adult beverage.  This would have been a real money saver and nice way to relax after the younger traveler were tucked in for the evening.

Have no fear Disneyland (map) guests, Albertsons is here with an online grocery service.  The chain of stores offers a wide variety of products online, including weekly specials.  Selected items can be delivered for a fee.  Another option is to order your groceries and pick them up at the retail store (map).

For those guests who prefer to shop in person, a  quick  google search revealed that the closest grocery store to the Disneyland Resort properties was Food 4 Less (map).

Keep in mind also that packages can be sent from your home to your Disney resort hotels.  By packing up some nonperishable goodies and shipping them ahead, you will have a money saving care package waiting for you upon your arrival.

With a little pre-planning, Disney guests can eat, drink and save money while on vacation.
