The Ultimate Pub: Allen’s on the Danforth

Out on the Danforth at the start of Toronto’s Greektown is a “secret” garden with an enormous willow tree.  This gem of a garden belongs to Allen’s - an Irish/American pub whose roots are from the famous Joe Allen’s in New York, London, Paris and Miami.

This is not your ordinary pub.  It boasts one of Toronto’s most extensive beer and scotch lists and a hamburger that ranks among the city’s best.

Other notable items on the menu are: the chilled minted pea soup, wood smoked Irish salmon, the curries, and don’t forget the sweet potato fries!  And in the summer they always have a  daily bbq special cooked over Canadian hardwood.

Oh, and did I mention that their brunch is fantastic and that they make a mean Bloody Caesar!  Whether eating indoors on checkered tablecloths or outdoors in the garden, Allen’s is a classic.
