Encounter at LAX’s Theme Building
The Encounter Restaurant at LAX is open, even while major renovations are being made to its futuristic architectural and design style. With its 135-foot parabolic arches and purple lighting, the restaurant is one of the most recognizable structures at the LA airport.
The restaurant has gone through many changes, including the Walt Disney Imagineering change to the current Jetson-esque” themed restaurant with retro furniture and sci-fi music. The former quick stop coffee shop is all grown up.
The Encounter restaurant features a California Fresh menu, exploring different areas of the globe. You can try East Coast Buttermilk Marinated Crispy Calamari appetizers and Peking Style Roasted Duckling for dinner. Or indulge your sweet tooth with the Chocolate Lovin’ Spoon Cake with raspberry sauce or the Strawberry Amaretto Labomba cake. The restaurant also provides a special Kids Space Cadet menu, with new twists on old favorites.
The entire reconstruction project will improve the building’s seismic resistance. while still maintaining the look of the classic landmark. Modifications will also be made to bring the restaurant into compliance with the requirements for accessibility.
The restaurant renovations is just one of several projects at LAX, including the work at the Tom Bradley International Terminal, the largest pubic works project in LA history. It’s a necessary part of handling the millions of international passengers that pass through LAX each year.
