Zip Lining Adventure in Western North Carolina
“It’s a true canopy tour. You’re up in the canopy of the trees, zipping from tree to tree” says Abby Burt, marketing director, with Navitat, of the recently opened () in western North Carolina. “It’s reminiscent of what one would find in Costa Rica. The zip line tour is completely a tree experience.”
Located in Moody Cove, a 242-acre forestland, filled with hardwoods, just north of Barnardsville, N.C., and about 20 minutes north of downtown Asheville, Burt says it was the perfect choice for the zip line.
“There’s really no other adventure-type activities nearby, and it’s such a beautiful place. When you’re zipping from tree to tree, you have the opportunity to enjoy some diverse and incredible views the Blue Ridge Mountains and surrounding area.”
The adventure begins at the welcome center with a 20-minute orientation session followed by getting into the appropriate gear. Then you and seven other guests are whisked away to the top of the mountain, while along the way learning about the history of the area. Once you reach the top, you are greeted by trained guides that will take you along the custom-designed course.
The course itself features 10 zip lines that range in lengths of 120-feet to 1,000-feet. There’s also sky bridges, trails, rappels and platforms all in the treetops as well. The tour last about 3 hours.
