Downtown St. Catharines: The Best Restaurants in the Region

Downtown St. Catharines has some of the best restaurants in the entire Niagara Region, most of them independently owned, and none of them chain restaurants.  If you are staying in Niagara Falls or Niagara on the Lake, it is well worth the 20 minute drive to St. Catharines for some lunch or dinner.

The following are some great recommendations if you are looking for some good food at reasonably priced and unique restaurants you won’t find anywhere else.

Sahla Thai (map) is a great Thai food restaurant that is almost always packed.

Mai Vi (map) is a fairly new, but extremely popular, Vietnamese restaurant.

Oasis Middle Eastern Cuisine (map) is a delicious Middle Eastern Restaurant with great prices.

Strega Cafe (map) is pretty much the best place to go for lunch in Downtown St. Catharines. The sandwiches and soups are great, and the vibe of the place is really cool too.

Sushi Jade (map), Downtown St. Catharines has a lot of sushi places, but this one is the best in my opinion. Fixed priced lunch and dinner menus let you eat all the sushi you possibly can.

Greek Garden Restaurant (map) definitely has the best Greek food in St. Catharines that I’ve tried so far.

Carlo’s Cantina (map) is one of the only Mexican restaurants in the area, and it is good. They make awesome margarita’s and the ambiance of the place is wonderful.

Bella Noella’s Pizza (map), is perfect if you are in Downtown St. Catharines for lunchtime.  If you like pizza, I would highly recommend a stop at Bella Noella’s, it’s amazing!

These are just some of my favourite restaurants in Downtown St. Catharines, there are still many more to choose from. A full list can be viewed here.
