Niagara’s Farmers Markets
There has been a lot said recently about the benefits of eating and buying local, and when you are living in or visiting Niagara, eating locally is pretty easy to do! Almost all of the municipalities in Niagara have their own weekly farmer’s market, and these are the places you’ll be able to get some great locally grown fruits and vegetables. Most of Niagara’s Farmer’s Markets have been around since the early 1900′s, and are an extremely ingrained and important part of the community.
St. Catharines Farmers Market takes place every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday year round from 6am to 3pm, at Market Square (map) in Downtown St. Catharines. Not only will you find fruit and vegetables here, but you’ll find organic coffee, cheese, and tons of locally made arts and crafts.
Welland Farmer’s Market (map) takes place Wednesdays and Saturdays from May to December, and runs from 6am to noon.
Port Colborne Farmer’s Market (map), takes place on Fridays, year round, from 6am to 1pm.
Pelham Farmer’s Market (map), takes place Thursdays, seasonally, from 4:30 pm to dusk. Free concerts are also hosted every Thursday night at the Fonthill Bandshell, which is right next to the Pelham Market, so it’s the perfect opportunity to spend an evening in Niagara.
Niagara on the Lake Farmer’s Market (map), takes place from June to October on Wednesdays from 3:30pm to 7:30pm, and Saturdays from 8am to 12pm.
Shopping at the farmer’s market is a great way to meet some locals and experience a unique part of the Niagara way of life!

I love summer – fresh fruits and veggies everywhere! I really missed the entire “produce” genre when I lived in AK
