HipHop Festival Cultura Urbana
As summer lurks around the corner, music festivals are popping up all over the country, one of which is the Cultura Urbana. The biggest international hiphop festival in Spain, Cultura Urbana, will be stirring up quite a storm in Madrid come 15th May. With lineups of local and international hiphop artistes, as well as urban art showcases and breakdance battles, it is expected to be an all-night long party.
Winner of MTV’s top Spanish hiphop artiste, Cres, will be strutting his stuff alongside pioneering hiphop DJ Afrika Bambaataa. British DJ, Chris Reed, also known as the Plastician will also be spinning. Expect to catch artistes in the likes of Washington-based reggae band Soja, famous Sevillano hiphop group SFDK and Spanish rapper Rapsusklei.
Catch the preliminary rounds of the Breakdance Battle on 14th May evening where finalists will go on to the ultimate round on 15th May. 16 groups of breakdancers will be fighting it out for the title.
In the Urban Art corner, graffiti artists from Puerto Rico, Spain and France will be showcasing their unique masterpieces in front of the roaring crowd, transforming dull walls into pieces of art.
Where
The festival will be held at Pabellón Telefónica Arena Madrid, with various events spread through out different stages. To get there by metro, catch the Line 10 metro and stop at Lago station. Alternatively, you can catch bus numbers 31, 33, 36, 39 and 65.
Ticket Prices
Entrance tickets cost 39euros when you purchase them online from Cultura Urbana, TicketMaster, FNAC or Carrefour, with an extra tax of 3.40euros. Tickets purchased at the festival on the day itself cost 45euros.
