Drive Like a Racer at IndyCar Experience
Those of us living in Indianapolis have to wait a few more days to hear that famous roar as the IndyCars take to the track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (map). But did you know that guests to can experience the rush 350 days a year?
Located just outside the Magic Kingdom (), WDW Speedway offers a thrilling ride. Operating almost daily, the offers race fans the ultimate ride or drive in an Indy Series Car.
Guests select from two experiences:
- Ride– guest take a thrilling 3-lap ride around the one-mile track in a 2-seater car piloted by an Indy Racing League driver. For this experience, sit back, relax and leave the driving to a professional — well, at least two out of the three. Participants will feel the g- forces felt by only a few elite drivers as speeds can go upward to 180 mph. The current price for this experience is $109.00 plus tax, per ride.
- Drive– for $399.00 plus tax, guests can learn what it feels like to be a driver as they get behind the wheel of an actual IndyCar that has participated in the famed Indianapolis 500 and take on the 8-lap challenge. Drivers follow behind a lead Indy Series Car and the speed is determined by each drivers comfort level.
Open from 4:00 p.m. until dusk, the track is closed for major holidays (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day) and for the few days when a PGA tournament is hosted next door. Perhaps the roar of these mighty engines just might interfere with the golfer’s concentration during a short-putt.

That’s really neat. My parents are going to the Indy 500 this year and I’m jealous!
