Comedy is Coming to LA
Get ready to laugh out loud at Los Angeles’ fourth annual Comedy Festival. Comedians from all over the world unite just to have a good time. They come in all forms, from actors to live solo stand-ups and group acts. Here is a look at what this year’s festival will be showcasing:
FILM SHORTS
The LA Comedy Festival will be presenting short films from all over the United States as well as from other countries, such as Canada. Many famous US comedians have come from this country, such as Dan Aykroyd, Mike Myers, and Jim Carrey. At the festival, Canada will be showing a TV pilot of their show “Making Funny Stuff” and a USA Premiere of “Sorry Girl”. The main character of “Sorry Girl” is Melody Marchand who repeatedly says “sorry”, a habit her boyfriend wishes to break. Canada will also have a Southern California premiere of “Overdue” about Larry the librarian. The United Kingdom also is known for their comedians, like Russell Brand and Simon Pegg. The UK will have several film shorts such as CGI-Brows, Cut and Paste, Haikke 9, King Jeff, Scooterman, and Taylor’s Trophy. Other international films include those of Australia, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Ireland, and Mexico.
LIVE COMEDY ACTS
In addition to film shorts, there will also be performances by comedians from all over the country. There will be different types of comedy acts including sketch, improv, variety, and standup. There will also categories you may not even heard of, such as Micahel Carbonaro who is a “performance bizzarist”. Also, there will be an international comedy act from Toronto, Canada called Morezuka (formerly The Kupps) who, like other acts, will integrate music into their comedy routines.
