The mobile theatre of Assam has come to New Delhi. This unique form of theatre, which is hugely successful in the North Eastern state of Assam has been in existence for more than 25 years. During this period, the mobile theatre has entertained millions in the state of Assam and other states in India. The mobile theatre industry is still in its nascence in India. Through their performances in New Delhi, the mobile theatre should gain national popularity.

Theatre in Delhi

Mobile Theatre Comes to Delhi

The Kohinoor Theatre has created Assamese adaptations of several world famous plays, novels, epics, and films. For example, they have staged dramas of Mahabharat, Ramayan,  Cleopatra, Ben Hur, Hamlet, and Titanic. They have also participated in creating a better society by creating an AIDS awareness drive through drama.

Though mobile theatres are common in other parts of India, especially eastern India, this form of theatre is rarely seen in New Delhi. Thanks to the efforts of the National School of Drama, we have the Kohinoor Mobile Theatre in New Delhi. The producer of the theatre is Ratan Lahkar. The series of shows will include Ashimat Jar Heral Sima and O Moi Munnai Kaisu.

There is also a photo exhibition on daily between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. The exhibition depicts the history of mobile theatre in Assam.
