Music, Fun and Fashion at Whistler BC
There’s a lot more to do at Whistler this week besides skiing and snowboarding. The takes place from this weekend until Sunday April 25. There’ll be music, slope-side competitions, art and fashion shows and lots of parties for the next 10 days.
This is the 15th year for this festival, the longest running free outdoor concert series in North America. e be more than 40 bands playing the Outdoor Concert Series and the Kokanee Freeride Series. Headlining is LA punk orchestra Breakestra, and based 12 piece rhythm machine Five Alarm Funk as well as Juno-nominated hip hop artists Classified and Chad.
Music is the main attraction, but there’s also the Blackcomb Superpipe, an Olympic sized pipe where skiers can compete for a $70,000 purse prize. It’s all a ton of fun with some athletes wearing costumes. There’ll also be a show of urban art at the Whistler convention Centre and plenty of entertainment for the whole family featuring parades, competitions and a chance to let the family pet take part with the Dog Fest that supports Whistler’s Animals Galore, a no-kill animal shelter.
KIids will enjoy the mascots, Big Air Beart, Potato Jack, Gizmo and the RCMP Safety Bear. There’ll even be a cook-off featuring some of Whistelr’s top chefs. Sheck Fasion Exposed entertains on the runway with a “shred-wear” to bed-wear” show
So come along for the fun. Even if you don’t ski, there’s plenty to do!
