Three Great Places to Ride Your Bike in Orange County

The weather is getting warmer, and the days are getting longer, making it the perfect time for a spring bike ride.  If you don’t feel safe riding on the streets, check out these three places that are perfect for a ride on your bicycle.

Fullerton Loop in Fullerton, CA (map)

The Fullerton loop starts at Harbor Blvd. and Berkeley Ave., with ample parking on Valley View Drive.  The trail begins at the south end of the Juanita Cooke trail, which is marked with a sign.  This is a great trail that will take you through both the neighborhoods and the rolling hills of Fullerton.

The full loop is 11-12 miles, and turn-by-turn directions can be found on this website.  For more trails in the area, visit the City of Fullerton’s website.

Huntington Beach (map)

This bike path runs between the Pacific Coast Highway and the ocean, along the beach, and past the pier for around 8 miles of relaxing bike riding.  Take a break to people watch, or ride over to Main Street for a bite to eat!

The Back Bay Loop in Newport Beach (map)

One of my favorite places to ride my bike, the Back Bay loop trailhead is at the Back Bay Science Center, but has several entry points along the way.   The loop is 10-11 miles if you ride the entire thing.  There are a few hills along the way, but for the most part it is flat and very enjoyable.

The Back Bay Loop, including entry points, can be found on the City of Newport Beach’s website.
