Compline Choir at St. Mark’s Cathedral

The Compline Choir at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral presents beautiful liturgical music every Sunday evening as a group of men gather to chant the Office of Compline.

St. Mark's Cathedral, Seattle The Compline is the final church service of the day.  It consists of psalms, short passages from scripture, hymn, a canticle, litany, collects and additional prayers, and is offered up when the work of the day is completed.  It is a time for people to gather to give thanks for the blessing of the day past and to ask for blessings of the day to come, and is conducted in the dark and in silence.  It’s believed that this active silence will nourish the heart, soul, and mind.

The choir was formed over 50 years ago, beginning as a small gathering composed of friends and family of the choir members.  Over the years it has grown to include an audience of over 500 attendees with thousands more listening to the service on the radio (Classic KING-FM, 98.1) or online.

The public is invited and welcome to attend the Compline and to appreciate the beauty of the darkness, silence, and service.  You do not need to be a member of St. Mark’s, nor a member of the Episcopal Church.  Attendees are asked to refrain from conversation in the sanctuary and to turn off all electronic devices.

The St Mark’s Compline Choir is an independent 501(c)(3) organization supported by gifts and royalties from the sale of its recordings.
