Go “Glamping” at Paws Up in Montana

When I was a kid, I really enjoyed roughing it in the great outdoors.  It felt so good to get away from the city and breathe that fresh country air.  Now that I’m older, my needs are a little different which is why Paws Up caught my attention.

Paws Up offers “nature on a silver platter” by allowing you to go camping while enjoying all of the comforts of home (and then some!).  In July 2010, Paws Up is opening Creekside Camp, the third and largest luxury tented accommodation. Situated along Elk Creek, Creekside Camp boasts six new tented suites for the ultimate ‘glamping’ experience.  Campers can expect:

  • Electricity
  • Feather beds
  • Western chic furniture
  • Private decks

Of the accommodations, four will be 530-square foot tent suites for a family of four with attached private ‘kids quarters.’

Additionally, there are some incredible upgrades available to guests including en-suite bathrooms (complete with ventilated skylight!), open air showers and seating areas with individual fireplaces.

Dining is easy since campers will have access to a dining pavilion which also features a massive fireplace, lounge, creek-front seating, stone fire pit, game area and a “camping butler.”

It’s a great travel option this summer for groups/families traveling with children since most of the activities are suitable for children as young as seven years old (there’s also the Paws Up’s Kids Corps of Discovery program!).

Rates in 2010 start at $1,015 per night for the two-bedroom tented suites and $925 per night for the one-bedroom tented suites, double occupancy.  Prices include three-meals daily (children three and under eat for free) and airport transfers from Missoula (MSO).

I took my family to Paws Up last year and we stayed at their River Camp. It was amazing. Kids are begging me to take them back this summer. They won’t have to twist my arm too hard. Really want to give Creekside Camp a shot.
