Guide to Vintage Shopping in Dublin

Dublin has a reputation for being an expensive city, and in some ways, this reputation is well-deserved. It is easy to pay premium prices on hotels, restaurants, and even a coffee in the Irish capital. Shopping is no exception to the rule – which makes vintage shopping a girl’s best friend.

Here’s an overview to the vintage stores in the center of Dublin. Even if you aren’t in the market for anything – these stores have racks of scarves, vintage handbags, dresses, cashmere sweaters, and even leather jackets that may just entice you into pulling out that wallet.

The good news is that the euro to dollar conversion isn’t as bad as it used to be. Happy shopping!

1.  A Store Is Born: This vintage shop is only open on Saturdays from 11am – 6pm. If you walk by it any other time during the week you would barely know it is there – and then on Saturdays – a treasure chest of vintage dresses, winter coats, and cozy sweaters is revealed.

Address: 34 Clarendon Street, Dublin 2. (map)

2. Harlequin: If you like your vintage stores jam-packed and ready to sift through, head straight for Harlequin. Besides being in a trendy part of town and nearby the tasty cafes along South William Street, Harlequin also has a great selection of pieces from a variety of eras. Handbag fanatics beware: you will purchase something.

3. Jenny Vander: This small vintage shop is ideal for the girl who likes her clothes whimsical. Polka-dot blouses and expensive-looking gowns can be found at this spot.

Address: 50 Drury Street, Dublin 2. (map)

4. Wild Child: You will have to squeeze your way through racks of dresses and between fellow-vintage-shoppers at this store – but Wild Child delivers after a little sifting. Sundresses are a particularly good find and very affordable. (Maybe because it never gets warm enough in Dublin to wear them?!)
