Serving Tex-Mex Right for 75 Years

When Mr. and Mrs. Joe T. Garcia opened the doors to their Fort Worth restaurant in 1935, they had no idea that their tiny business that only held 16 patrons would grow into a local favorite eatery that now stretches an entire city block and accommodates over 1000. 75 years later, the restaurant still serves up delicious Tex-Mex rich in flavor and tradition.

When I first heard about Joe T. Garcia’s in Fort Worth, I was a bit skeptical. I had heard that there were only two choices on the menu–enchiladas and fajitas. With only two entrees to pick from, I didn’t see how so many people could rave about the restaurant. Having had the Joe T’s experience, I am now one of those people doing the raving. The menu offers more than just two items, and the margaritas are excellent. There is usually a line out the door, but it moves rather quickly. Though the inside décor is nice, the garden is the best place to sit. It is an entire city block of courtyards, patios, flowers, fountains, with a small pool and cabana.
