Kings of Ice: Figure Skating Show
Well, yes, the Russians have not succeded much in figure skating in the Olympics in , but anyway we stay the home to many world-scale stars in this sport that’s a sort of a show, and in this show that’s a kind of sport.
Mr Plushenko himself, who became a hero of many headlines during the Games, being “awarded” with a platinum medal by his own site, is now a headliner of a show “The Kings of Ice” to be held on March 30 at The Ice Palace.
Plushenko, who is the initiator of the show, invited his friends and colleagues for participation, choosing them by such criterion as level of professionalism and artistic skill. A team of performers consists of (Switzerland), a two-time world champion and a silver medalist of Olympic Games; (USA), who became silver medalists in ; Yuka Kavaguti – Alexander Smirnow (Russia), they were placed fourth in ; (Kazakhstan), another participant of the 2010 Games.
Organizers promise showing of combination of classical figure skating and extreme, interesting tricks and other elements that make a show, not just sport. Special event is a first jump over a car implemented on ice by an acrobat Sergey Yakimenko. Another feature is a dance with live fire on ice. No guess what it may look like, seems to me I’ll have to go and see myself.
“Special guest” is a Hungary violin player Edvin Matron who helped with Plushenko to Dmitry Bilan win the Eurovision contest in 2008. Bilan himself, unfortunately, will not take part in the upcoming show.
