Taste the “Danish Village” of America
The Danish are known for creating unique architecture, are famous for their literature, and also known for creating timeless cuisine. Celebrate Danish heritage this weekend at the 18th Annual which will feature locally grown foods, wine, and live entertainment — all to celebrate ’s cultural heritage as the “Danish Village” of America.
Here are five events that are part of the “Taste of Solvang”:
1. Solvang Restaurant Week
From March 14-18, 2010, three course dinner menus will be available at the prix fixe of $20.10. There are seven confirmed participating restaurants:
- Root 246 (Wine Country Cuisine),
- Bit O’Denmark (Danish/American),
- Hadsten House Inn & Restaurant (American),
- Kabuki Restaurant (Japanese),
- Mirabelle Inn & Restaurant (Wine Country Cuisine),
- Red Viking Restaurant (Danish/American),
- River Grill at the Alisal (American),
2. Dessert Reception with dessert wines and live music
- Date & Time: Friday, March 19, 2010 7-9pm
- Location: Veterans Memorial Hall
- Price: $25
3. The Walking Smorgaasbord
- Date & Time: Saturday, March 20, 2010 11am-4pm
- Location: 45+ stops around the village like bakeries, restaurants, food/coffee/candy shops
- Price: $30
4. Wine Tasting Room Walk
- Date & Time: Saturday, March 20, 2010 6-9pm
- Location: Over a dozen vintners will pour their vintages into the souvenir wine glass.
- Price: $35
5. BYOP-Bring Your Own Picnic with live entertainment
- Date & Time: Sunday, March 21, 2010 2-3pm
- Location: Mission Drive & First Street
- Price: FREE
You may also purchase an all-inclusive “Weekend Passport” for $70 per person which includes “Taste of Solvang” etched wine glass and souvenir tote bag. Tickets are sold , by mail with a check, or by phone (800) 468-6765 ext. 105.
