2 Big St. Patrick’s Day Parades in DC

Take in two big annual St. Patrick’s Day Parades in Washington DC and Alexandria, Virginia over the St. Pat’s Day weekend.

It’s a full day of fun with not just a big St’ Patty’s Day parade, but also a classic car show featuring 50 antique and classic cars, and the always popular Fun Dog Show.

Dates & Times – Saturday, March 13, 2010 -  activities start at 10:00 a.m. with the car show, followed by the dog show at 10:30, with the parade starting at 12:30 p.m.

Tickets – Admission is free.  Grandstand tickets are available for $10.00 and are available online.

Nearest Metro Subway Station – King Street – Blue & Yellow lines, then take the free DASH shuttle down King Street.

Parking – Very limited metered street parking and area paid garage parking is available.

Washington DC Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

Dating back to 1971, the parade started out with just a few hundred people marching down Massachusetts Avenue.  Today, the parade is a 2½ extravaganza with marching bands, military drill teams, pipes and drum teams, clowns, performers, and of course, dozens of Irish dancers.

Elevated grandstands seats, situated next to the judge’s reviewing stand, are available and are your best vantage point for watching the parade and seeing all the performances.

Nearest Metro Subway Station – Federal Triangle – Orange & Blue lines, then a 1-block walk to Constitution Ave., or use the DC Circulator bus.

Parking – Limited metered street parking and area paid garage parking is available.
