Fresh Cafe

Fresh Cafe in the industrial Kaka’ako area near downtown Honolulu is a bright and worthy addition to Honolulu’s otherwise lackluster cafe offerings.  Located just off Ward Avenue on Queen Street, this trendy little spot serves up some of the best bagels and bagel-wiches in town — not to mention some “ono” (delicious) salads and pastries.

Founded in July of 2009, Fresh Cafe serves 100% Kona coffee, homemade cookies, bagel sandwiches, soups, salads, breakfast foods, deserts, and locally made products that are also available for catering events.  This little cafe-gem is a hidden oasis with an eclectic mix of artists, students, musicians, and entrepreneurs who need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The real appeal of this hotspot is that it’s open early in the morning and closes late at night. Fresh Cafe has the latest cafe hours in town. Just recently in January, the cafe introduced the Fresh To-go Market, which carries locally made products and feature YumYum Shave Ice.  There is a large warehouse space in back where you can find live music, art and poetry, or book your own innovative promotion or public/private seminar.

Fresh keeps its event calendar updated HERE.  Every month, there’s at least one open mic night.  Every first Sunday features a free garage sale where locals can buy and sell household items and clothes.  Then, of course, there are live music and art shows.

This is a really great spot for those not interested in going out to the bar but wanting a place to chill out late at night.  It’s a a perfect  low-key spot to hang out, as there’s a ton of outdoor seating as well as a few tables and chairs inside.   Check it out — and enjoy!
