Ferry to Helsinki: Coming Soon, Sales Already Now

In my post I wrote about a launch of a regular ferry line St. Petersburg-Helsinki and promised further details on fare, schedule and the day of start. So here they are.

First flight will be made on April 20th. The ferry “Princess Maria” will be departing from St. Petersburg at 20.00 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday arriving at Helsinki at 08.30 next morning. The departure from Helsinki is at 20.00 on Thursday, Saturday and Monday, the arrival at St. Petersburg at 08.00 or 09.00 next morning. Detailed information is here.

Fare is variable depending on day of travel, it’s higher on weekends. All figures you can find here, I can only say that the cheapest ticket for the ferry costs nearly as much as if you go by train, and it’s a bit more expensive than by bus and as much as by a regular taxi. And it’s cheaper than by plane.

But the level of comfort is beyond comparison. Trains leave St. Petersburg too early in the morning as well as a plane. Travelling by auto is the best for young people who are ready to sleep in a car or in a bus and do not mind passing through border formalities in the middle of the night just in order to save money. In all these three cases you may forget about being fresh after arrival, and if you do not stay at a hotel, then you will be tired of visiting to Helsinki in two hours. Checked by myself.

The ferry lets you have a niceĀ  sleep, especially if you ignore all the entertainments on the board, which I doubt, of course! :)

For information where to buy tickets go to the site.
