Photo Friday: Edinburgh Inspiration

It’s Photo Friday again, and today’s shot is a new angle on a familiar site:  the Scottish Parliament.

This photo is of the Canongate Wall, which is one of the many pieces of outdoor public art featured around the Parliament.  The wall is made up of several types of stones from Scotland, and features 26 quotations from noteworthy Scottish figures.  It’s a tourist favourite, and here are a few of the sayings you can enjoy:

Abair ach beagan is abair gu math e.
Seannfhacal
Say but little and say it well.
Proverb

The rose of all the world is not for me.
I want for my part
Only the little white rose of Scotland
That smells sharp and sweet – and breaks the heart.
Hugh MacDiarmid (1892-1978) “The Little White Rose”

A visit to the Canongate wall is not complete without a stop at Clarinda’s Tea Room across the street.
