Picks of the Week: March 3-9
Another week, never a dull moment, and we have some picks for you from an Afro-Cuban funk band at De Rodriguez to a Pink Floyd light show to feasting with the beasts, it’s time for your senses to be awakened.

Thursday, March 6 – Add some funk to your Thursday night routine with a visit to De Rodriguez located in th Hotel Astor on Miami Beach. Starting at 9:30 pm, Afro-Cuban funk band, PALO (gopalo.com) will take the stage and bring the energy of Cuba to the forefront. Pair the sounds of Cuba with the authentic flavors of Cuba, created by renowned chef, Douglas Rodriguez. Spice things up even more with a signature mojito, and wait for the night to begin. Friday, March 5 – Prepare yourself for a wild night out at the Miami MetroZoo for this year’s Feast with the Beasts. Sample gourmet delights from 40 of the area’s top restaurants, enjoy libations from 8 open bars, mingle with the wild animals and enjoy live entertainment. Tickets are $175 for general admission or $225 for VIP tickets getting you in 1 hour earlier. Feast with the Beasts takes place at the Miami Metrozoo located at 12400 SW 152 Street, Miami, on Friday March 5 starting at 8:00 pm, VIP starts at 7:00 pm.
Friday, March 5 – Whisk yourself away and go back in time to relive the Pink Floyd Experience complete with musical recreations, stunning light shows and video that will knock your socks off. The show takes place at Dreyfoos Hall at the Kravis Center on Friday, March 5 at 8:00 pm. Tickets range from $20-$90
Sunday, March 7 – Oscar Night Dinner at Bogart’s – Bogart’s, located in Muvico Palace 20 in Boca Raton, is hosting a 3-course red carpet dinner and viewing party. Cost is $19.95 for your choice of appetizer – Potato Leek Soup or Caesar, Chopped or Wedge Salad; Entree – Maple Glazed Salmon, Pomegranate Glazed Roasted Duck, Old Fashioned Beef Pot Roast; and Dessert – Apple Cobbler, Chocolate Cake or Ice Cream Sandwich. Monday, March 8 – Fenedegas, the national association of wine cooperatives in Portugal, is hosting an unlimited sampling of over 100 whites, reds and roses replete with Ports, White Vinho Verdes and Moscatels. Consumer tickets are $25 per person (or $20 with discount code WINE), with a large portion of the proceeds going to benefit the South Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Wine and Food. Tuesday, March 9 – Grab your sombrero and head out to Taco + Tequila Tuesdays at the newly opened El Scorpion Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Bar.
