Tabletop Mountain, Cape Town South Africa

It’s not often that you are able to find a mountain in the midst of a bustling city, offering up a challenging day hike or a leisurely cable car ride to the top, allowing the beauty that is Cape Town to unfold before your very eyes. Despite the fact that many residents of Cape Town never set foot on the mountain itself, Tabletop is a part of everyday life in South Africa’s mother city.

Another task performed by the geographical structure is that over time, it has been declared the socio-economic boundry separating the wealthy form the poorer classes living in Cape Town. Clearly seen from an areal perspective, the divide is so distinct that the shanty towns and shacks built up in the squatter settlements are clearly kept to the one side while the lavish, wealthy population is segregated to the opposing side of the mountain.

Quite an interesting sight if you are ever able to get to Cape Town and the glorious Tabletop Mountain.
