Best Picture Movie Marathon at AMC

Every time the Oscars roll around, I get excited to cheer on my favorites movies from the previous year, but when the awards ceremony starts I realize that I haven’t seen half the list of nominees. OK, so I’m not always the first to check out the new movies, but I still want to be in the loop, so the film fest by AMC is right up my alley.

Select AMC theatres are hosting The Best Picture Showcase, a movie marathon of the 10 nominees for The Best Picture.  While some cities (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, DC and Toronto) are hosting a 24-hour marathon starting at 12:01 am on March 6, others are splitting it up into 2 Saturdays — including the AMC in Aventura and the AMC in Vero Beach — to be held on February 27 and March 6.

Here’s the schedule for Aventura. Doors open at 9:00 AM.

10:30 AM: Avatar (3D)
1:45 PM: Up in the Air
4:00 PM: Precious
6:45 PM: The Blind Side
9:15 PM: Inglourious Bastards

March 6
10:30 AM: Up
12:45 PM: A Serious Man
2:45 PM: The Hurt Locker
6:00 PM: An Education
8:00 PM: District 9

Cost for Standard Ticket Options is $60 online or $50 at the box office for the 2-day option, 1-day passes are $30

If you are a MovieWatcher Member, your ticket will be discounted — $40 for the 2-day option or $25 for the 1-day pass. Both must be purchased at the box office.

As in any movie, outside food or drink is not permitted inside the theatre, but you will receive a complimentary large popcorn with unlimited refills.
