Enjoy the Last Days of the Games with These Olympics Dishes and Drinks

With the Olympics wrapping up this weekend, there’s still time to partake in Vancouver’s best Olympics-inspired dishes and spirits.

Some places to add to your Olympics itinerary this weekend should include:

The Opus Bar in Yaletown has an Olympics-themed “O Bites” menu with the Susan – Salty Salchow (crispy squid with cracked pepper and sea salt and nuoc cham); the Billy – Moguls Mole (empanadas de mole, corn tortilla stuffed with chicken, corn and mole sauce, and guacamole and salsa); and the Buffalo Bobsleigh (miso marinated buffalo sate with cashew-ancho chili sauce).

Campagnolo on Main Street (near the SkyTrain station) has Olympic pizzas: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Tip: Order a gold, silver, or bronze pizza during the Games, and if Canada wins a medal matching the pizza you have ordered, the pizza is yours free.

Tojo’s Restaurant shows their Olympics spirit with two new sushi rolls: the Olympic Roll has the five colors representing the five Olympic rings and the Celebration 2010 Roll, which is also inspired by the colors of the Olympic rings, features seafood from local British Columbia waters.

The Granville Room has an Olympics cocktail menu with five cocktails created in honor of the five Olympic rings using Canadian liquors and ingredients.

Hotels such as the Shangri-La and the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver also have Olympics-inspired drinks, including the The Oh Canada at the Shangri-La made with Sortilege maple whiskey, dark rum, spiced Canadian maple syrup (with cinnamon, vanilla beans, and Thai chilies), homemade bitters mixture, and fresh lemon and orange juices served in a chilled martini glass and The Torch at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver made with muddled red pepper, Absolut Ruby Red vodka, lime juice, simple syrup, ginger ale, and a red pepper garnish.
