Pamper Your Skin with Chicago’s Best Facial

Looking to do something nice for yourself?

How about treating yourself to one of Chicago’s best facials?

Elina Skincare, which recently moved to a new location at 46 Oak St. (map it; 877-384-8300), is one of the top places in the Windy City for a facial.

Part of the success behind the spa’s facials are the products used in them, which are created and hand-made by the spa’s owner Elina Fedotova who has an impressive resume: cosmetic chemist, herbalist, and aesthetician.

Fedotova’s products are made with certified organic ingredients that she gets from all over the world, including Asia and Eastern Europe. The products are also made seasonally using the freshest ingredients for that time of year.

Some of Fedotova’s top products used both in the facials and sold at the spa are:

- An Organic Scrub Exfoliant with Rose Hips, Yarrow, Honey Extract, Walnut Shells, Essential Oils of Lavender, Mandarin, and Rosewood.

- An Ambra-Lift Skin Elixir, which is “scientifically proven to produce anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidant effects after 48 hours,” according to Fedotova.

- An Alcohol-Free Toner that “increases microcirculation, tightens pores, and helps combat blemish-causing bacteria with Dandelion Root, Yarrow, Juniper Berries, Geranium, and Grapefruit Seed Extract.”

What sets the facials at Elina’s apart from other facials in Chicago is the quality of the skincare you receive.

Each facial (75 minutes; $110) includes cleansing, steaming, vacuuming, and manual extractions. You are also treated to an herbal detox mask with warm herbal compresses and lymph drainage around the face and neck. Ultrasound may also be used with the mask to deepen the mask’s penetration into the skin.

But that’s not all.

The facial continues with an exfoliation using acid from natural sources, as Fedotova explains, including salicylic, glycolic, lactic, wild berry blend, and ascorbic, and then the skin is soothed with an application of serum such as caviar extract. A cold laser treatment is also performed for firming and healing. The finishing touch is a facial massage.

One of Elina Skincare’s signature facials is the Crushed Amber Rejuvenating Facial (60 min.; $75) using Baltic Amber known to make the skin brighter and firmer. The crushed amber, which is made by Fedotova using succinic acid, co-enzyme Q-10, a blend of natural vitamins, soy phospholipids, and arnica, is massaged into the skin and then penetrated with ultrasound followed by a reflexology massage. The facial also includes an amber-firming protein mask with cold laser treatment and an application of the Ambra-Lift Skin Elixir.

You can also treat your body to Fedotova’s revolutionary crushed amber with the spa’s Complete Body Crushed Amber Treatment (60 minutes; $95) that massages a crushed amber scrub all the entire body that works to reduce sun damage and smooth and firm the skin.
