Cherry Inspired Food at the Pink Tie Party
Grab your tux, complete with a pink tie or your favorite pink cocktail dress, for one of Washington DC’s Cherry Blossom Festival’s major events, the annual Pink Tie Party gala at the W Hotel downtown.
This year, the party is hosted by celebrated chef and restaurateur Charlie Palmer, who will be bringing his celebrated Progressive American cooking to the party.
Palmer’s flagship restaurant Aureole in mid-town Manhattan is one of more than a dozen restaurants he operates in New York City, Las Vegas, Dallas, and the California wine country, as well as three Charlie Palmer Steak restaurants in Dallas, Reno and here in Washington DC at 101 Constitution Avenue, NW.
Joining Charlie will be 20 of Washington DC’s top chefs, all creating cherry-inspired dishes and blossom-themed cocktails.
Kenichi Ebina, a solo self-taught dancer will be performing his magical dance show that blends Hip-Hop dance, mime, sound effects and illusions. He is the only two-time grand championship of Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater. For a few samples of his unique dance style check out his homepage videos.
A silent auction will also be held. Suggested attire for the event is “Pink Tie” cocktail attire, so think pink dresses and for men, suits or tuxes sporting pink ties.
The event is sponsored by the National Cherry Blossom Festival,
a non-profit organization that raises money for cultural and community-based events during the 2-week annual festival commemorating the 1912 gift from Japan of live cherry-blossom trees.
