What’s on Edinburgh – Late February Edition

Hopefully you have an eventful (or uneventful, as the case may be) Valentine’s Day.  We’re on the home stretch and it will be spring soon – the sun is rising earlier and earlier and setting later now, so let’s celebrate with what’s on the end of this month.

Arabic & Middle Eastern Poetry.  How about something different for a change?  You can see Arabic and Middle Eastern Poetry on display at the Scottish Poetry Library (hidden in a close just steps from the Scottish Parliament)  now until 31 Mar, not Sundays 11.00am–6.00; Sat 1.00–5.00.

Local Poetry.  Speaking of Poetry, drop by the Canon’s Gait on the 26th at 7:15 where local Alastair Findlay will be reading his works about social work and workers.

German Discotheque. You can party from 8PM until 1AM at The Strathmore on the 26th listening to Masonic Youth spin their kraut rock and syntho pop rock.

Laugh for Charity.  Tomorrow night (the 23rd) at half past eight, The Stand is hosting a comedy show in support of the First Step Community Project.  Go, give, and laugh.

Saturday Feast for the Kids.  The North Edinburgh Arts Centre is hosting activities for children on Saturdays from 10AM-Noon.  The ‘feast’ includes storytelling, arts, and even a dance class.

Make a Lamp.  Fancy being crafty?  The LGBT Centre for Health and Wellness is hosting a Lamp making workshop on the 28th from 12:30-7, with a focus on using scrap materials.

The Beauty Queen of Leenane.   This is a warped comedy about the unhealthy (yet humorous?) relationship of a mother-daughter.  Playing at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, 19 Feb–13 Mar, not Sundays, Mondays 7.45 (24 Feb, 27 Feb, 3 Mar, 6 Mar & 13 Mar 2.30 & 7.45).

Don’t forget – this month has 28 days – not 29, 30, or 31.
