The Alvear Palace Hotel, Pure Class and Distinction

The Alvear Palace Hotel is one of the most beautiful hotel in Buenos Aires. Even if you don’t stay here, at least you owe to take a look inside and maybe have a coffee in the lobby restaurant.

The hotel is located in the heart of the Recoleta district, at avenida Alvear, about 30 kilometres from Ezeiza International Airport, 10 kilometres from Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (domestic airport), and 1 kilometre from downtown and the financial district.

The hotel took 10 years to build and was finished in 1928. The architects Valentin Brodsky and Estanislao Piravano designed it. It was remodeled in 1930, again in 1960 and most recently in 1990. The materials used to build the hotel were brought from France.

Throughout history, hundreds of important people from all over the world have stayed here, including kings and queens. From regular rooms to the Presidential suite, you would be hard pressed to find flaws with either service or amenities. It is consistently named Central and South America’s best hotel year after year. All rooms feature personal butler service, fresh fruit basket and flowers, toiletries (Hermes), work desk, and a daily newspaper along with a modem connection.

The hotel offers 2 restaurants and a bar. L’ Orangerie Restaurant ,serves breakfast and lunch. The La Bourgogne Restaurant serves French and International Cuisine. The lobby bar of the hotel echoes with live piano music and is open until after midnight.

The area where the hotel is located is a wonderful area to stay in Buenos Aires. Nearby you will find very exclusive shops, with the presence of big international designers such as Versace, Armani, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Ermenegildo Zegna, Prada, Cartier, Ralph Laurent, and more. Also, there are fine jewellery shops, antique dealers and home decor designers. Visit Galería Alvear, attached to the Alvear Palace Hotel, very trendy.

The hotel is just a 3 minute walk to an all day every day market, which displays amazing handmade creations. You can buy sweaters and all kinds of gorgeous gifts. This market is in front of a great art gallery, Two blocks from the Recoleta Cemetery where you will find the mausoleum in which Evita is buried.

One thing I must say is that it is quite expensive to stay at the hotel, but if you can afford it I would definitely recommended it.
