Luxury Scotland at a Discount

Luxury Scotland are offering some bargain-basement discount rates for those of you wishing to come to Scotland and enjoy yourself with a bit of a splash. Here are three of the main property that are offering up some seriously good value for money.

Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa

One of Edinburgh’s top five start hotels, the Sheraton is a destination in itself; there’s a fantastic restaurant and probably (in my opinion) one of the best spas in the city.  ONE SPA is actually a rooftop spa; that’s not to say the views are to die for, but it does feel like a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city.  You can stay here and not venture more than a few blocks to enjoy other fantastic restaurants, the Filmhouse, and Prices Street is just a couple blocks away.

Get your discount: For those visiting from April 2 to July 11, the Sheraton is offering all a “Spring Garden Weekend Break” package featuring free entry to two beautiful local gardens accompanied by complimentary coffee or tea and homemade scones, and includes dinner, Full Scottish Breakfast, VAT, tea or coffee on arrival and early morning tea delivered to the room each day; fares start at £520 ($844) for two people for two nights, with single occupancy prices from £355 ($576). Those visiting for two nights during the week can enjoy dinner, Full Scottish Breakfast, VAT, tea or coffee on arrival and early morning tea delivered to the room each day for fares starting at £420 ($682) for two people; single occupancy is available for £290 ($471). Reservations and information can be requested by emailing grandedinburgh.sheraton@sheraton.com.

Hebridean Island Cruises

I love the Scottish west coast; it might be rainy, but it is lush and beautiful and the ocean is such a rich blue.  Getting around this part of the country is slow work, driving down winding roads and catching infrequent ferries.  (The last time I tried to get the Islay the ferry was closed due to high winds.)  And island cruise is a fantastic way to have a hassle-free journey and see more sights, and Hebridean Island Cruises is the easiest way to do exactly that!  Check out their “Scottish Temptations” tour, stopping in Loch Harport (where you can have a wee dram at the Talisker Distillery), Gairloch and Colonsay, as just a few stops.  These routes are great because you get to see parts of the islands you wouldn’t normally see.

Getting your discount: A cruising package normally includes privately escorted tours; all meals; specially selected wines, spirits and champagnes on board; gratuities; and port and passenger taxes. As a holiday bonus, Hebridean has taken 15% off the original prices, with reduced fares starting at £2,032 ($3,300) per person, double; additional savings are available for returning guests. For those who wish to take the cruise at a later date, the itinerary is offered again July 6-13. For further information, email info@hebridean.co.uk.

Boath House

Want a spring getaway in the Scottish islands?  How about staying in a fabulous country house on the north coast of Scotland?  No, not that north coast – the coast just east of Inverness, where you’ll find Nairn, a quaint little village home to the Michelin-starred and lavish Boath House.  Vegetables fresh from the hotel’s own garden? Tick. Honey from their own bees?  That’s a tick too. Glass of wine while you enjoy the Aveda spa?  Uh, yup that too.  While the Georgian mansions of Edinburgh’s New Town are wonderful, the Boath House Hotel and Spa are, well, something extraordinary.  Slightly off beat yet truly luxury.

Get your discount:  Guests visiting Sunday through Thursday can take advantage of the “Midweek Break,” which includes two nights dinner, bed and breakfast starting at £275 ($447) per person, double; fares for three nights are from £375 ($609). The “Weekend Break,” valid Friday through Sunday, also includes dinner, bed and breakfast; fares for two nights begin at £300 ($487) person double, with three nights starting at £430 ($698). Both offers are valid until the end of April. For more information or to book reservations, email info@boath-house.com.
