Dodging the rain in Lisbon – List of great things to do

There’s no doubt that Lisbon is having one of the worst winters we’ve seen lately. The cold and the rain seem to keep staying at this wonderful city that was awarded last year as Europe’s Leading Destination (among other two awards) by the 16th World Travel Awards.

Still, do not let this keep you off land… There are plenty of great things and places to visit in and around Lisbon. There just seems to be little time, as always.

 - A recent article just named Lisbon’s hotels amongst the worlds most affordable… Some of my favourites in town are Hotel Bairro Alto, Altis Belém, Farol Design Hotel, the awardedJanelas Verdes Hotel and Penha Longa Resort. The offer, as you may suspect, is extensive so just browse the web and find your favourite for a special and relaxing vacation;

 - Visit museums and art galleries – some of your choices include the world known painter Paula Rego’s house museum; one of the world’s largest aquariums that recreates the habitat of the high seas; the popular National Coach MuseumLisbon Design Museum; Centro Cultural de Belém, offering expositions, music concerts, performances and others; Torre de Belém and Mosteiro dos Jerónimos; Transboavista, a building art gallery; among many other options;

 - Discover the excellent restaurants Lisbon has to offer, from fancy and gourmet to the most simple one;

 - Take you time to read a book at some great pastelarias serving home made delicious delicacies;

 -  Accept the rain, put your jacket and boots on and discover Sintra’s hidden secrets. Weather it’s palatial village withe great hideaway cafes or it’s Castle and Palaces up on the mountain or still a walk through it’s magical woods;

 - Loosing yourself at the Lisbon’s bustling nightlife at Bairro Alto or at Alfama Fado’s houses, like the exquisite Mesa de Frades;

 A long week end is coming up. Get your things packed and head my way…
