Kimpton Hotels: Eco-friendly Luxury in San Francisco
Want luxury while being conscious of your environmental impact? In a “green” city like San Francisco, it’s fairly easy to find a “green” hotel, but one that doesn’t sacrifice style or quality is a bit tougher. While researching green hotels in San Francisco with four or more stars, a trend kept popping up – the hotel name followed by a Kimpton Hotel.
It seems as though Kimpton hotels are definitely dominating the eco-friendly, four star luxury department in San Francisco. With not just one, two, not even just five hotels in the area, Kimpton hotels has eight four star hotels and one three star hotels scattered among Union Square (map), Fisherman’s Wharf (map), and the Financial District (map).
With a mission statement that promises,
“To support a sustainable world by using non-intrusive, high quality, eco-friendly products and services at all Kimpton hotels and restaurants,”
Kimpton is clearly a leader in the green movement, demonstrating this by “request only” paper phonebooks in rooms, using recycled paper when possible, implementing water-efficient toilets, showers, and faucets in rooms, in-room recycling, and hotel-wide recycling practices. Kimpton hotels also use organic and/or environmentally friendly cleaning supplies.
Need a couple more reasons? The hotels are pet friendly, smoke-free, and have complimentary wine hours!
