Celebrate the 2010 Winter Olympics at Squamish, Gateway to the Sea-to-Sky Highway

Squamish,host of the 2010 Winter Games Sea-to-Sky hub, is just minutes away from many of the Olympic venues at Whistler BC.  Squamish welcomes guests to join in the action and fun of the 2010 Winter Olympics.  There’s lots to see and do in Squamish.  From February 12 – 28 the town celebrates this years Wild at Art Festival which includes the Wild at Art Gallery produced by VISUALS, at the UpStares Galleryon Cleveland Ave. in Squamish.  Enjoy lots of music and entertainment around town featuring a lineup of performers at various venues.

On the first day of the 2010 Winter Olympics, celebrate at Brennan Park for Spirit Day which will feature an artisans’ market, children’s area and music.

There’s a lot of attractions on this Sea-to-Sky Corridorcommunity.  Squamish is known as the Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada and offers a range of activities including mountain biking, hiking, golfing, fishing and some of the best rock climbing in North America.

Visit Stawamus Chief Provincial Park.  The Stawamus Chief, at 650 metres, is the second largest granite monolith in the world.

Nearby Shannon Falls offers a boardwalk to a breathtaking view of the third highest waterfall in B.C.

The BC Museum of Mining, on Highway 99 at Britannia Beach is a national historic site dating to 1888.

View the famous Brackendale Eagles, through to the end of February.  Brackendale has the largest gathering of bald eagles in North America.

The West Coast Railway Heritage Park and Museum has 65 pieces of railway heritage collections, including some of the oldest pieces dating back to 1890.

Golf at the Furry Creek Golf and Country Club, a par 72–18 hole scenic golf course has  first class facilities.  The Squamish Valley Golf Course features two lakes, a double green and practice facilities.

Enjoy this scenic community just 45 minutes drive north to Whistler.  It’s located on the Sea-to-Sky Highway,  midway between Vancouver and Whistler.
