Gentlemen, Ready or Not, Here Comes Valentine’s Day

In high school I worked at a Hallmark store.  As you would expect, like any card and gift shop, we were very busy on Valentine’s Day, especially at 5:00 p.m.

You see, at 5:00, or probably more accurately described as the end of the work day,  husbands who had forgotten it was Valentine’s Day, until flowers and gifts started arriving to their co-workers, rushed in to pick up a card so as not to head home totally empty handed.

While there is nothing wrong with giving a card to your loved one on Valentine’s Day, since that is how this holiday got started anyway, why not branch out with something a little more memorable, like a Disney vacation!  After all, who knows romance better than Cinderella, Belle or Minnie Mouse?

In a previous post we have discussed the romantic Disney, but the gift of a Disney vacation can be quite lovable too.

Granted, very few can drop everything and head out to spend time with their favorite Disney pals, and if you can, I am so jealous! My suggestion is, however, that you present one of these gifts to your loved one(s) announcing  an upcoming Disney adventure:

  • A Disney Gift Card - covering the World as far as Disney gifts are concerned, your loved one can purchase everything inside a Disney store or at the theme park – what better way to say here is a Disney day, your way
  • A Disney travel planning book – look in any bookstore in the travel section and the possibilities are endless, a few of my favorites are Birnbaums Walt Disney World for Kids and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Walt Disney World or Birnbaums Disneyland Resort - why not put a few post-it notes on some pages declaring how you would “love” to experience this or that attraction with them
  • An autograph book to capture the signatures of all the characters they love – fill out the first page with information about your travel plans
  • The very popular graphic tee shirt can serve the double duty of announcing your trip, while adding to their vacation wardrobe.  If you are not sure who their favorite character might be, they can always design their own at Downtown Disney’s Design-a-Tee (map
  • A toy boat  would serve to announce a Disney Cruise, while a small replica of the Eiffel Tower or other landmark could tell of an Adventures by Disney vacation to come

Unless your couch is really comfy or Pluto doesn’t mind sharing his doghouse, my advice is, gentlemen, mark your calendar’s now, and make some plans because Valentine’s Day is a few short days away.
