Is There Room at the Inn?
As people from all over the world head into Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, the question is “Are there still rooms available?”
It turns out, there are. Many of the Metro Vancouver homeowners who wanted to rent their properties to out-of-town visitors have been sadly disappointed. An abundance of Games accommodation rental options foced the asking prices to be reduce and there are many properties that did not attract Olympic renters.
Tourism Vancouver says Games-time hotel rooms are also still available even in downtown Vancouver, although prices are at a premium. A lot of blocks of rooms were bought up by tour operators but many of those are stil available as well. Metro Vancouver rooms start at around $300 per night, higher for downtown. Most B&B’s are booked, but there may be accommodations for RVers in the RV Village at Go West Campers in Coquitlam. You can email rental@go-west.com or phone +1=604-528-3900 for information. Fraserway RV Rentals in Delta BC also has campers for rent from $200=$300 per night with accommodations for up to six.
As of mid January, Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre still had a limited supply of guest rooms for during the second week of the Games.
