February is looking up to be a fun one – here’s a few tips and suggestions for how to spend your time this week in Auld Reekie.

Go Antique Shopping.  Nothing says I Love You like a good antique.  The Royal Highland Centre is hosting a Antiques Fair the 13th (10-4) and 14th  (10-3:30).  Pictures, jewellery, housewares, and more.

Blackwell Book Group.  Tonight at 6PM you can join the Blackwell Book Group at Blackwells.  Fiction and non-fiction friendly.

Laughing and Dancing.  Highlight is hosting Famous for Comedy. You’ll get four comedians for your delights and then the venue turns into a club afterwards.  What’s not to like?   12th 8pm.

Teach Your Children to Sew.  Want to teach your youngsters to sew?  Kiss the Fish Studios is hosting, Mondays 4-5:30.  Perfect for a late afternoon activity followed by hot chocolates in Stockbridge.

Gay Icebreakers.  The Regent Bar is hosting a gay icebreakers mingling event 10th Feb 7:30-9:30.

Go to your first ceilidh. The Lot offers a beginner-friendly ceilidh on the 12th at 7:45pm.  Come early for a bite to eat downstairs, dance your socks off then rehydrate at one of the nearby pubs in the Grassmarket.

Learn something…new. We round out this week’s What’s On with a bit of an off-beat tip.  Head up the hill to Royal Observatory on Blackford Hill to hear about the revolutionary technology in astronomy.  15th at 7:30.  Only £1.50 entry free.  Did you know they regularly have speeches and talks here?
