Best of the Week in Atlanta

Of course you can’t have missed Super Bowl Sunday or that Valentine’s Day is next Sunday. Here are a few other things going on – some that will be ending soon.

Poetic Experiences: A Celebration of African American Poets at Imagine It: The Children’s Museum. Feb 7 at 2 pm. (This is across from Centennial Olympic Park.See map. Good way to introduce kids to poetry and there’s lots to do nearby.) On Feb. 14 they are celebrating the Chinese New Year!

Peachtree Battle, the hilarious play about old Atlanta, ends Feb. 14 at Ansley Park Playhouse. This is Atlanta’s longest running play. Go see why.

Leonard da Vinci, Hand of the Genius at the High Museum of Art ends Feb. 21. You’re going to wish you had seen it when it’s gone. (see map.)

The Chocolate Tour on Atlanta’s Trolley ends Feb. 28. Can you work this into an extended Valentine’s gift?

PostSecret at the Art Gallery on the lower floor of the Sturgis Libraray at Kennesaw University. You’ll see some of the 350,000 post cards returned to Frank Warren, with secrets written on them.

You may have heard about the plight of Arts Station – the theater and contemporary art gallery in the village of Stone Mountain. Open 24 years, they are facing closure if they can’t raise $150,000 by April 15. Go see it (see map) because it may be gone. Maybe you’ll be inspired to help.

Finally this week – the Ringling Brothers Circus opens at Phillips Arena Feb. 12.
