What’s On Edinburgh – 31st Jan Edition
Just because January is over today doesn’t mean there isn’t a shortage of happening events and things to do in Edinburgh.
Join a Book Group. Being once of the few UNESCO Cities of Literature, Edinburgh is the perfect place to join a book group. (Those of you Edinburgh-based may remember Channel 4′s Book Group sitcom several years ago, but that was based in Glasgow.) A book group meets the last Sunday of every month (so today!) at the from 5-6pm.
Book Quiz. Speaking of books, is having a free book quiz on Feb 1st at 6pm. You can have up to five members of a team, so get your friends who know their literary trivia and head on over.
Music Industry Social. Over at the on Feb 4th from 7:30pm check out “Born to Be Wide.” It is a music industry social club that welcomes musicians, record shop workers, journalists, and anyone with a keen interest in the industry.
Go Improv. Friday nights at 10:30 starting on Feb 5th, the starts back up a regular slot for the side-splitting funny Improverts. Good comedy doesn’t have to wait for the Edinburgh Festival.
Meet the Criminals. Ok, so this choice isn’t for everyone, but it certainly is interesting for those with a dark sense of humour, so if you are so inclined, head for the on the 3rd of Feb for the 6:15pm showing of ‘Criminals,’ which contains reels of live surveillance footage of, yes, you guessed it: criminals in the act. Pretty…offbeat.
Modern Art. We close out our assortment of things to do this week with a suggestion to pop into the small on Cockburn Street where Elín Jakobsdóttir is displaying an exhibit called ‘Hinges Between Days’ that is guaranteed to be a hit.
