Top French Restaurant in Chicago Offers Half-Priced Entrees

With Restaurant Week coming up in Chicago, I thought I’d give you a tip on one of my favorite restaurants that offers an incredible deal on Tuesday nights.

If you like French food, then you’ll want to add Sweets & Savories (1534 W. Fullerton; map it) to your dining list.

This Lakeview eatery (open Tuesday – Saturday for dinner starting at 5 p.m.) is small and cozy but packs a punch when it comes to flavorful foods.

Plus, on Tuesday nights, all menu items, including entrees, are half off. (And Sweets & Savories is a BYOB with no corkage fee, so with half-off dishes and BYOB, you can only imagine the savings.)

Other nightly and weekly special include:

- Three-course prix fixe for $29 – every night.

- $10 burgers on Wednesdays.

Top contenders on Sweets & Savories menu include:

Butternut Squash Risotto, Gorgonzola and Crispy Sage for $8
Mussels and Sausage, Tomato Herb Sauce for $8
Onion Soupe Gratinee for $8
Arugula Salade, Lemon, Grana Cheese, White Truffle Oil for 9
Sweets & Savories Burger, American Kobe, Foie Gras Pate, Truffle Mayonnaise for $17
Seared Oregon Salmon, Cranberry Pear Chutney, Spaghetti Squash for $19
Sea Scallops, Mango Coulis, Foie Gras Risotto for $22
Braised Beef Shortribs, Fig Ketchup, Gorgonzola Polenta for $19
Truffle Macaroni and Cheese for $7
Beef Tallow Pommes Frites Parisianne for $5

Finish off your meal with one of Sweet & Savories’ desserts. Favorites include the apple tart with bacon cheddar ice cream; the French butter Pear tart tatin with brown butter ice cream; and Sweets & Savories bread pudding.

Tip: Sweet & Savories also does a nice Sunday brunch (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) for $14 per person that includes such items as:

Currant scones
Walnut coffee cake
Gazpacho with shrimp
Arugula salade with lemon, pecorino, and olive oil
Fresh fruit
Eggs benedict
Butter poached lobster hash
Bacon waffle
Stuffed brioche French toast
Brunch risotto with bacon and eggs.

The restaurant does take reservations, even on Tuesdays when the menu is half-priced.

To make a reservation, call 773-281-6778. You can also visit Sweet & Savories’ Web site.
