Chicago’s Best Place for Karaoke (and Brunch)
Ever dreamed of singing like Diana Ross? Your dream may just come true thanks to (1970 N. Lincoln Ave.; ; 312-642-0007) , which every Sunday night turns into Chicago’s number one party spot with its live karoke that lets “Average Joe” sing like Ozzy Osbourne.
Around 10 p.m. this neighborhood “joint” transforms from a sports bar upfront and family dining area in the back, to a loud, crazed bar with a karaoke band that plays just about any tune you can imagine, from Madonna to Stevie Nicks.
The band’s most popular karaoke song that really gets the crowd going is Don’t Stop Believing by Journey (probably because it was the White Sox’s anthem during their 2005 World Series win).
Stanley’s is also one of the best places for Sunday brunch in with homemade fried chicken; mashed potatoes and gravy; mac n’ cheese (which is incredibly delicious with it is crunchy, bread-crumb topping and loads of melted cheese on the inside); and Bloody Mary bar.
Tip: Be sure to get to Stanley’s early. The lines for both brunch and karaoke can be out the door and around the corner; not fun on a cold day or evening. (And remember smokers: Chicago’s No Smoking Law won’t let you puff indoors.)
Stanley’s does deliver food (if the wait at the door gets too long) and offers most items on their bunch menu a la carte. Other comfort food favorites include the lasagna, mini cheeseburgers, and chicken fried chicken. Karaoke, though, is only available on-site and the wait is well worth it. Besides what else are you going to do on a Sunday night?
