Arizona Getaways for Lovers

The pool at the Enchantment Resort

If you’re looking for more than a dozen roses and a box of chocolates for the one you love this Valentines Day, consider a getaway in Arizona. For locals and tourists alike, Arizona offers amazing hotels in Phoenix, Sedona and Tucson, to name a few that will put the romance back in your relationship.

Sedona – Red Rock Country
Characterized by massive red-rock formations, as well as the contrasting streams of Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona has always been my favorite and is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful places in Arizona. In  addition to beautiful sunsets, endless hiking trails and award winning spas, Sedona is full of exquisite resorts, cabins for rent and Bed and Breakfast’s for the perfect getaway.

The Enchantment Resort (map) amongst the red rocks of Boynton Canyon, was named the #1 Resort in Arizona in Travel + Leisure’s 2009 World’s Best Awards. During Valentine’s Day weekend, the resort will offer guests cooking demonstrations, sweetheart yoga, workshops and dinner at their award-winning Yavapai Restaurant. A special Suite Romance Package features 2 or 3 nights, a Romance gift upon arrival, and a one 60-minute spa service per person at Mii Amo.

Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa (map) is a newer boutique hotel Mediterranean in design. Located on West Highway 89A, the hotel is in the middle of an urban environment only one mile from the Thunder Mountain trailhead and three miles from Uptown Sedona, home to jeep tour companies, Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village and many specialty shops and restaurants.  The Andalusia Romance Package includes a two night accommodations in a Premier Sedona guest room. A welcome amenity of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries awaits you along with a 60 minute Couples massage at The Spa at Sedona Rouge. You’ll also receive a $100 dining credit for Reds Restaurant. The total cost for the package is $760 which includes room tax. Visit this site to book the package.

Phoenix and Scottsdale
The cities of Phoenix and Scottsdale are the urban heart of the state projected against a rich backdrop of several mountain ranges and desert terrain. The sun shines over 400 days a year or at least it seems that way. What else can you ask for in a romantic getaway?

The lobby at Hotel Valley Ho

The host of Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood’s wedding reception in 1957, Hotel Valley Ho is still a landmark getaway for love birds. This year, Hotel Valley Ho (map) continues its tradition as the spot for sweethearts with a special room rate and romance package.  Their Signature Guest Rooms are offered at a special rate of $229, and the Signature Guest Room Romance Package is offered at $320. The Romance Package includes a half bottle of Veuve Clicquot, which for champagne novices is “the good stuff,” and a selection of seasonal fruit, nightly mood light turndown service, one complimentary in-room movie per night, and breakfast at Cafe ZuZu or through room service ($40 maximum). The specials are valid the nights of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, February 12th through the 14th. Call 480.248.2000 for reservations, or visit their website for more details.

Escape to the Millennium Resort Scottsdale McCormick Ranch (map) to take advantage of the Dine, Stay and Play Package. This package includes superior accommodations, $100 food & beverage credit redeemable at the Resort, plus golf for two at their 18-hole PGA Championship courses with stunning views of Camelback Lake and the McDowell Mountains.  The package is available for travel during the months of February and March starting $349 per night for a standard room, double occupancy, plus applicable fees and taxes, based on availability.  To make reservations, visit their website for more information.

The Revive Spa Romance for Two at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa (map) in North Phoenix is an AAA Four-Diamond desert oasis complete with AAA Four-Diamond Ristorante Tuscany, outdoor firepits, plush guest rooms and a large luxurious pool with a lazy river.  The package includes deluxe guest room or executive suite, champagne and strawberries or truffles with a rose petal presentation, three-course dinner for two nightly in Meritage, Blue Sage or Ristorante Tuscany, couples massage at Revive Spa, breakfast for two daily at Blue Sage or through In-Room Dining and 2pm Late Check-Out.  To check availability, visit their website for more details.

Tucson
Surrounded by majestic saguaro forests and dramatic mountain peaks, Tucson is a truer representation of the Southwest because of their close proximity to Mexico and a slower pace that I find truly charming. But, don’t let that description fool you into thinking that Tucson doesn’t offer the finer things to its residents and visitors. Their resorts and spas are world-renowned and is one of my favorite getaways from the hustle and bustle of Phoenix.

Fall in love again and “Indulge Your Passions” at the Westin La Paloma Resort (map) where they attend to every detail so you can simply relax and celebrate each other. Your “Indulge Experience” includes sparkling wine and strawberries for two, breakfast in bed, and complimentary newspaper. The rate is from $283 per night. Call 1-866-716-8137 or visit their website and ask for rate plan RPKGWEB.

Tubac Golf Resort and Spa

Love is in the Air at the Tubac Golf Resort and Spa (map).  Tubac, a quaint artist community is about 45 minutes south of Tucson. Their “Love is in the Air” package includes one nights accommodation in a Hacienda suite, a Couples massage with a glass of wine and chocolates served before or after your treatment, breakfast in bed or at their Historic Stables Restaurant and a 1pm late checkout. Valid through February 28, this offer starts at $415 per couple.

Celebrating Valentines Day with your loved one at any of these resorts will ensure a romantic getaway that you’ll always remember.
